Again, I agree. But there does have to be some balance drawn between quality and quantity, right? As in, you can’t churn out a top-quality post every single day, as I and so many other bloggers have found out.

Linking to lots of other blogs is a great way to get yours noticed but I wouldn’t recommend doing it all the time. You might zoom up the search engine rankings by making a league table but I think producing well written, thought provoking posts is a much better way to keep readers coming back. Ultimately it boils down to quantity vs quality. Do you want to generate a high quantity of hits or provoke high quality conversations?

Brendan, You know my views on lists from previous discussions, but on the topic of raising profile, my blog was recently mentioned in the print edition of PRWeek (I didn’t target this at all) and my hits were treble the normal level as a result. So we shouldn’t forget the power of mainstream media as well as all the usual networking stuff.
